Fernie RV Resort marked its 10th anniversary with more than 100 guests gathering for a sunny afternoon celebration at the Resort. Surrounded by friends, guests, and community supporters, the event reflected both the growth of the Resort and the people who have been part of it since opening in 2016.
Set between the Elk River and the Fernie Golf Club, the Resort was built from the ground up as a four-season destination — a place where guests could stay year-round and experience everything Fernie has to offer.
The anniversary event featured catering by Barrie Elliott of Fernie Catering Co., bringing guests together in a setting that showcased the Resort at its best.
Over the past decade, Fernie RV Resort has grown into a full-service, year-round operation with 175 sites and accommodation options, including fully serviced RV sites, pull-throughs, tenting, heated Forestside Yurts, and the recent addition of modern RV Lodges. What began as an RV resort has evolved into a complete basecamp for four-season travel.
Continued investment in infrastructure and amenities — including expanded washroom facilities, laundry, green space, gathering areas, and the addition of the pump track — has supported a comfortable, family-friendly experience that works across all seasons.
The Resort’s growth has been matched by recognition, receiving the Fernie Community Tourism Achievement Award in 2016 and 2020, and being named a Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award winner and #1 in Specialty Lodging from 2020 through 2025.
Owners Reto and Shelly Barrington attended the anniversary celebration and reflected on the milestone.
“We built Fernie RV Resort to be a four-season place where people could come, stay, and enjoy everything Fernie offers,” said Reto Barrington. “Seeing guests return year after year and hearing how much they value the experience is what it’s all about. The support from the community and our guests has made the last 10 years possible.”
